(Construction.IndustryNews247.Com, February 12, 2016 ) New York, NY -- Do you need a new mattress?
Many of the products obviously show a replacement when needed. If it simply does not function or show signs of wearing off, then its time to get a new one. But this is not the case with mattresses and the signs are hard to read. Just like your favorite jeans or worn out shoes still feel comfy enough to have it replaced even after it has lost its ability to perform optimum long ago. But since sleep is a vital factor in every human's life it is important to evaluate your sleep on a regular basis.
Here are some signs your mattress has lost its support.
If you wake up with a stiff back or numbness, bodily pain etc.
if you can sleep peacefully anywhere (such as couch, hotel etc.) apart from your bed
visible symptoms of wear and tear (sagging, interior begins to show, lumps etc.)
mattress is more than 7 years old
How long will a mattress last?
It all comes down to several factors such as quality of mattress, frequency, type of mattress, maintaining the mattress and so on. Be it luxury mattress or firm mattress or memory foam mattress etc. if your mattress has survived for more than 5-7 years then they may no longer give the best comfort and support during the initial years. This is also because people's bodies also tend to change over a period of time and the comfort/support differs with age. Hence it is best to look for a mattress that best support your body and give optimum comfort. Always do your research and go with mattress companies that offer you AT HOME TRIAL period so that you can test how well the mattress blends with the body.
Another thing to note is the warranty that comes with the new mattress and box spring does not indicate how long the product should be used before replacement. It is simply to protect the customer against any defect over a period of time and must not be considered as an aid against gradual loss of comfort/support. Different manufacturers deliver different warranties so make sure you check with the manufacturer about the product you order.
Don't throw the old mattress away
If you are vigilant enough, you will notice that old beds are often disposed in the weirdest of places such as bottom of lakes, near the road etc. Sad part is they end up in our cities and simply sit there. This is because many don't know what to do with their old mattresses.
An estimate shows that 70% of old mattress are passed on to children or other family members. Stop passing it on to children. They are of growing age and need utmost support for developing a healthy body. If the bed is not good enough for you, it may not be for some one else either. But that does not mean you have to trash it.
The best way to get rid of old mattress is by asking the store you order to take the old mattress away. Many retailers in fact include this as part of purchase price or a portion of their delivery fee. Now they do not throw it away. They hand it over to mattress resellers or recyclers who use all the materials for recycling purposes. What better way to save the Earth than recycling your old mattress?
