(Construction.IndustryNews247.Com, November 19, 2015 ) Doraville, GA -- A new low speed buffer on the market - ho hum, right? Janilink the janitorial equipment supplier is trying hard to change that perception by making a Disney-esque character out of their new floor buffer, "Rocksheen." "Our products are top quality and unique, so our Rocksheen buffer deserves something different, something that makes floor buffer marketing history!" said Stephen Deans, manager at Janilink.
The term "rock sheen" is referring to the ability to modify the floor buffer so that it is capable of doing more than the average floor machine - it has specialty weights (if you buy the Marble Kit addon) that can be added to its frame so that it can also perform marble grinding and polishing.
Since the name Rocksheen sounded a bit like Stings' old reggae song "Roxanne", Janilink decided to have a bit of fun and write another reggae song about Rocksheen the floor buffer, even featuring a bluesy reggae-style harmonica part.
Taking it a bit further, they created a face for the machine and even put a wig on it for the video. At one point in the production the guy running the floor buffer impulsively snatches the wig off of Rocksheen, and then he is "shocked" that "She's actually a floor buffer!" Rocksheen then of course is no longer smiling, but has a scowl on her buffer face. Ridiculous? Yes. More fun than you'd ever expected to see in a floor buffer demonstration video? Definitely. The actual product name for the machine is JL 17 Rocksheen Low Speed Floor Buffer. The "JL" in the name is the branding letters for the Janilink company, as Rocksheen is distributed exclusively by Janilink.
Rocksheen is 17 inches at its base and comes with a 17" pad holder. The 17 inch base and the 109 pound weight makes Rocksheen a midsize low speed floor buffer. Besides marble grinding and polishing, the Rocksheen machine is also well-suited for floor stripping, and can come with an optional solution tank that mounts near the control levers. The control levers are an extra-wide width for added strength and come with an operators' safety switch, and the entire assembly swings and adjusts to lock down for maximum leverage and comfort of use for almost any height of operator.
The JL Rocksheen machine also works well for hard surface floor polishing, spray buffing, and working on concrete, tile and terrazzo floors, with minimal machine motor noise. When operating the Rocksheen machine, though, we can't guarantee that the reggae-style song "Rocksheen" won't keep running through your mind - hope you love her as much as we do.
